Course Web Site Development

Welcome to the Instructional Technology Services Course Web Site Development page!  This page has been established for TCNJ faculty members interested in setting up a course web site.

To begin, simply scroll down and follow the steps outlined below.  Feel free to click on any link as you go along.  If you would like additional assistance in the development of a course website, please contact the Instructional Technology Coordinator (Craig Kapp, kapp@tcnj.edu).

1

Obtain a Web Page Account A web page account is necessary to begin building a website.  Here's the good news - if you already have an e-mail account, you don't need to get another one for your website!  A normal TCNJ UNIX account is perfectly adequate for developing impressive websites.

If you would like to develop a more advanced website, click on the link to the left to find out which account is right for you.

2 Obtain FrontPage 2002 Microsoft FrontPage 2002 is a web page editing program that TCNJ supports for faculty use.

Click on the link to the left to find out how to request a copy of FrontPage 2002 for your computer(s).

NOTE:  All examples from this point on will be given in terms of FrontPage 2002.

3 Build a Basic Website
We're ready to begin building a website!  This step will give you all the information you need to get started.

Click on the link to the left to learn how to create a new website, import an existing website (if you already have a website either here at TCNJ or at another institution), and create a professional website using one of our pre-made TCNJ website templates

4 Advanced FrontPage 2002 Components Now we're ready to begin unleashing the full potential of Microsoft FrontPage.

Components discussed in this section will allow you to augment and enhance your courseware using the advanced capabilities of Microsoft FrontPage.

5 Additional Website Components  Finally, add some "extra" components to your site that are not necessarily dependent upon FrontPage.  This section contains information on how to manipulate images, work with digital video, collect information over the web, etc.
