Real Producer is a fairly simple software package to
use. Successfully generating a streaming video file is a 5 step process.
1 |
Request
Access to a Streaming Media Server |
Before you
begin developing streaming files, you need to have special access
to a server that will deliver your content to users all over the
world. Without this access, your content cannot be published onto
your website.
To request access, please fill out this application
form. The Instructional Technology coordinator will contact you
with information regarding the status of your account (this is usually
accomplished within 48 hours). |
| 2 |
Prepare
your materials |
You
will need to obtain a copy of the media to be digitized. If
possible, bring a VHS or 8mm version of your materilas over to
Instructional Technology Services. Alternately, you may opt to bring
in existing digital media files [MOV, MPEG, AVI, etc].
| 3 |
Digitize
your materials |
Now you
must digitize your materials. To do this,
please make an appointment to visit Instructional
Technology Services.
The recommended process is two-fold. First,
use our Video
Digitization Station to create an MPEG file. Then run this MPEG
file through Real Producer to create a streaming media file. |
| 4 |
Publish
your presentation |
Once you
have recorded your presentation, you must publish it to your network
account. Click on the link to the left to learn how to accomplish
this. |
| 5 |
Link
your presentation from a web page |
Finally,
you must provide a link from your homepage to your presentation.
Follow the link to the left to go through a step-by-step tutorial on how
to do this correctly. |
That's pretty much all you need to do in order to have
fully functional streaming presentations available from your website! If
you have any additional questions, comments, or concerns, please contact the
Instructional Technology Coordinator directly at kapp@tcnj.edu.
