Slide Scanner Instructions

How to use the QuickScan 35 Slide scanner

 
  1. Turn on the slide scanner.  The slide scanner is located in Computer Lab #1 in Forcina Hall Room #111.  For directions to Instructional Technology, click here.
  2. Go to the START menu and click on SAL APPLICATIONS. You should be able to see the ADOBE FOLDER highlighted.
  3. Double click on PHOTOSHOP LE.
  4. Once Photoshop is open, go to FILE, scroll down to AQUIRE to SELECT TWAIN SOURCE. Make sure QuickScan 35 is highlighted, now click on SELECT.
  5. Go to FILE, AQUIRE, and click on TWAIN. This will open up the QUICKSCAN 35 menu. (If it says the scanner is not hooked up, reboot the computer, when the NOVELL screen comes up, press
    ok - you don’t need to add a password). Go back to step 2.
  6. Insert the slide into the machine, right side up with emulsion side facing the computer.
  7. Click on PRESCAN, your image will appear on the screen. You have the option to crop or rotate. (The film type should be set for "color positive")
  8. Now you can press the SCAN button, this will bring your image into PhotoShop.
  9. From here you can save your image. Go to FILE, SAVE AS, and choose .JPG, the preferred format for photographic images.
  10. Please remember to save your files to a floppy disk, zip disk or the network, as the hard drives are deleted periodically.
