The Online File Distribution System (OFDS) is a relatively
new addition to the Instructional Technology Services suite of online
applications. This program allows professors to set up "spaces"
online that permit students to submit papers, etc, to you, the professor.
The OFDS, like the Form Generator, is currently being used
for a number of different purposes campus-wide. Various hyperlinks to
these different systems can be found below. To view a specific example,

Online Submission System (TOSS) |
Transformations
is a journal sponsored by the New
Jersey Project and edited by Dr.
Juda Bennett and Dr. Beth Paul. Dr. Bennett and Dr. Paul felt
that the submission and review process could be improved if a means to
submit electronically was added.
The main function of TOSS is to allow contributors
to submit their articles online. TOSS also enables the editors to
assign articles to other contributors for anonymous peer review.

| SPED
330 |
Dr.
Barbara Strassman and Dr. Chris
McAuliffe team taught a section of SPED 330 during the spring
semester of 2000. This class requires students to type up detailed
weekly lesson plans, and professors Strassman and McAuliffe felt that
allowing students to submit these plans electronically could save both
time and paper.
The SPED 330 distribution allows students from the
class to submit papers, and also allows both professors to submit their
responses to these papers. All papers and responses are written in
Microsoft Word 97.

| Art
101 |
Professor
Oppenheimer from the Art department wanted to set up an online
system that would allow all of her students to submit their reviews of
various pieces of art electronically, and then allow other students in
the class to randomly critique the reviews anonymously.
The Art 101 distribution allows all students
enrolled in this class [roughly 250] to submit their art reviews
online. Peer review is also handled directly through the system.

As you can see, the OFDS is a powerful program that can revolutionize how your
students interact with you and with one another. If you are interested in
using the OFDS in one of your classes, please contact the Instructional
Technology Coordinator, Craig Kapp, at kapp@tcnj.edu.
